There's little more intimidating as a photographer to be asked to take photos of another photographer and their family! Yipes! I suppose the equivalent would be a baker requesting a cake from another baker, or a gardener asking someone to landscape for them...I could go on. Claire Butler is a phenomenal studio photographer of newborns, cake smashes, maternity photoshoots; she is just magic at what she does! I had the pleasure of meeting her on a course back in 2018; the course wasn't up to much, but our friendship was and we've been buds ever since! She is so lovely, so funny and quirky, down to earth and flighty at the same time, I love her energy! And she's really passionate about delivering really high quality photographs; the work she puts into her cake smash set ups is really impressive. So when Claire asked me to take some family photos for her, my first thought was 'Oh no, I couldn't!' - why do we doubt ourselves first and foremost?! And then I emphatically said YES, I'd love to! So on a sunny, chilly late autumn morning I headed to Claire's pad, just outside Dromore, and we went for a wander around her beautiful garden while I snapped away. Her kids were on top form and were so funny and entertaining!
I had a really good time walking around with them, and as for the photos.... I'll let Claire speak for that: "Just beautiful! You have really captured us!!"
I really love taking photographs of children and families. I love that every single session is unique to that family, and there's always photos that make me laugh; it makes me think of my own kids and how there are certain photos of them that I treasure, I will always look at them and think yup, that's just what they were like!!
